As an abstract painter
since 1982, I have been working to develop and incorporate new ideas into my art. During
the 1980's I lived in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn, NY, and exhibited my work in Brooklyn
and in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Returning to North Carolina I worked to build a new body of work in the 1990s. I exhibited my work statewide and maintained a studio in Raleigh,
NC. Current issues such as the greenhouse
effect and deaths in the Iraq war inspired
me and my work became less about me and more about external affairs.
Most recently I have begun
using new geometric configurations. The work is lyrical, and having returned
to the use of oil paint, I have a new sense of color. Once again the work is
inspired by personal issues.
